Sonic4 - "Voice Of The Girls #2" (6/10)
Review Date: (08/11/2024)
This is the second Voice Of The Girls album, and it sounds more like
a regular album compared to the previous one. This album is a
collection of warped songs taken from degraded radio broadcasts, and
it's also Sonic4's first attempt at producing like V/Vm.
"Beef With You" had a loud segment in it, which caught me off guard.
It was funny. "Around The River" sounds nice, too. "Just Let Me Love
You" sounds like it's taken right out of V/Vm's Sick-Love. "My Life
My Problems" is an upbeat song that sounds unedited. I like it, too.
"Love Lie" is the first Turkish song in this album. It's cool, even
if I don't understand the lyrics. "No Love In Love" has a rough
noisy beginning, but then cuts to another nice Turkish song. Though,
I love the previous song more. "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" is an
iconic Whitney Houston song. The ending was creative with the pitch
changes. "Lifelong Holiday" had lots of reverb and distortion. It
sounds out of place. "I Can't Stay" had a nice short intro, but it
sounds horrible. And finally, "Hold On Little Girl" is a recording
of a couple of girls singing the first song in the album. It was
very sweet to hear.
The bad quality of the cassettes adds into the immersion of the
album, and makes it sound more intriguing. I also enjoy this kind of
simplistic music by Sonic4. I don't know what he's up to today, but
I am looking forward for him to make a return to his roots. |
