This is the sixth release of Sonic4 Test Records. The Album Code DFTLC stands for "Dedicated For The Literature Club"
Hxppy Thxughts is a 10 track album that takes you through the story of Sayori, a friendship that has been tainted by her rainclouds, and it eflects the grief that comes in after her absence. Inspired by Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, it takes samples like Shine On You Crazy Diamond and changes it to sound more distorted and hopeless. It's a metaphor of the friendships that end abruptly, or even worse. Losing a friend to suicide, and the guilt that comes after it. "Find out that I'm gone" refers to the ignorance of the main characters about the state of Sayori. "I loved and lost you" is his one last attempt of taking care of her. "The horizon seems distant" is looking back to the nostalgic memories from your childhood, but they're painful to look back on because they're devoid of joy now. "A new day will dawn on us" is reffering to how we go through our lives with so much optimism about our unpromising future. "We are two lost souls" is the main character wishing that she was here again just like the old days, and telling her to take care out there. "Sunshine fades away" is the emotional journey that he goes through after thinking about all that has happened, and closing the book of this story in a mournful but peaceful way. "I think Doki Doki Literature Club fans would understand the context of this album more than casual listeners. It's all fiction in the end." -Sonic4 |
